Ladyzhenskaya Prize Medal
The Ladyzhenskaya Prize in mathematical physics is awarded every 4 years to recognize revolutionary results in or with applications to mathematical physics. This includes any existing or future area of research in mathematical physics and neighboring fields of mathematics. The prize, named in honor of the influential mathematician Olga Alexandrovna Ladyzhenskaya (1922-2004), is established in 2022 to mark 100 years from birth. Ladyzhenskaya is known for her work on partial differential equations and fluid dynamics. Ladyzhenskaya provided the first rigorous proofs of the convergence of a finite difference method for the Navier–Stokes equations. Learn about 2022’s winner, Svetlana Jitomirskaya, here.
